EU AI Act becomes law following publication in the EU’s Official Journal

On 12 July 2024, the European Union's Artificial Intelligence Act, Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 ("EU AI Act") was published in the EU Official Journal, which makes it a pioneering comprehensive horizontal legal framework for the regulation of AI systems across the EU. It will enter into force across all 27 EU Member States on 1 August 2024, with enforcement and further provisions scheduled to commence on

2 August 2026.
